Cycle training
Cycle training is a good way of increasing your confidence on your bike. Most people can benefit from some cycle training no matter what their age or ability.
Bath and North East Somerset Council
The council employs a small team of national standard cycle instructors who deliver best practice cycle training. Independent Bikeability cycle trainers also work in a number of our schools. All cycle instructors are accredited to train to the national cycle training standards.
Who can get training?
Anyone! All of our in-house training for children is run through schools. However, the range of independent instructors can provide training to adults, teenagers, people with special needs and groups. We also run holiday courses for ages 9 - 11.
The council also runs Somer Valley Wheels. This is an organised leisure ride for people aged 15+. Cycle hire is available at a nominal charge.

Bristol City Council
The council has a team of professional cycle instructors who deliver quality training in partnership with Life Cycle Uk. All instructors are accredited to the national standard for cycle training and the council plans to join the Bikeabilty scheme very soon.
Who can get training?
Child cycle training is offered to all Bristol schools. We also work with other children’s groups such as home educators and organise some holiday cycle training courses. We run training in playgrounds as well as on road training and all of our courses are accessible to children with special needs.
Adult cycle training is available through Life Cycle Uk.

North Somerset Council
The council operates cycling proficiency training through schools. There are plans to start providing Bikeability Training in North Somerset soon.

South Gloucestershire Council
The Council employs 'Bikeability' cycle instructors to deliver high quality cycle training. All bikeability trainers are accredited to national cycle training standards.
Who can get training?
Most of our training is run through schools at Levels 1, 2 & 3 throughout the year. We also consider requests from other organised groups such as scouts/brownies etc. For those children whose school does not allow cycle training we a number of holiday training schemes. Adult cycling training requests will be considered. However availability is limited.
