Working in partnership

Members of the Cycling City team work closely with businesses and community groups to promote cycling. That includes providing cycle-friendly facilities such as parking and showers, or running events and activities to get members of the community interested in using their bikes more often.

The team has formed effective partnerships with:

• Over 50 businesses, bringing in a range of support measures to make these destination points more cycle friendly
• Sustrans, to create Bike It schools in Bristol and South Gloucestershire.
• Life Cycle, to offer low cost cycle training, bike maintenance training and free cycle parking stands
• Bristol Cycling Campaign and other groups to represent the interests of Bristol cyclists.
• Dr Adrian Davis, one of the country's leading transport and helth experts, who regularly reviews key evidence from peer-reviewed literature. Interesting titles of late include papers on women and commuter cycling and the economic benefits of cycling.
• A team from the University of the West of England's social marketing centre to run a research study and marketing campaign into the hidden motivations that get people on their bikes.
