Cycling City funding has given thousands of school children the opportunity to get saddled up for life.

A number of projects are running in schools, all designed to create a future generation of bicycle enthusiasts:

• Bikeability training has seen over 16,000 school children take part since 2008
• Over 50 Bike It schools are building cycling education into their curriculum
• Grants for cycle parking are helping to improve facilities within schools
• Each school in the area has a customised travel map, showing local cycle routes
• Youth projects such as Go Ride and Bike Club are helping to fund one off projects
• And special events such as the Pumpkin Chase or Bike to School week are putting the fun back into freewheeling to school.
